Students at all grade levels have very different needs from one another. Whether a student needs special education or mental health support, extra assistance with literacy or math, or specialized programs to build job-specific skills, our schools should have the resources to support them.
Over the past several years, teachers and researchers have documented a dramatic increase in violent incidents in schools – even among our youngest learners. This has repercussions for the learning and well-being of everyone in the school community. More professional services and supports, such as guidance counsellors, social workers, and child and youth workers, are needed to help students who are experiencing behavioural issues.
Ontario schools need investments to ensure teachers can create a positive learning environment that encourages student achievement. Tell the government we need to build on our success.
